We provide you with only the best seasonal plants Over the last 30+ years, we have developed relationships with the very best small ‘mom and pop’ plant growers. We think they have better plants than you will find anywhere else; Hand Grown and Hand Picked. We know which plants do well in each season.
Scheduling: We schedule 4 plantings per year, once every three months. Example: March, June, September & December. Or April, July, October, January. We typically schedule your plantings for the same day of the week and the same time of day. We replant for each Season so that you can enjoy beautiful blooming plants each Season. Instead of them being permanent plantings, Think of these as really great floral arrangements for outdoors that last for 3 months. We normally totally replant before your plantings start to look bad. Yep, were going to remove some plants while they are still looking nice, but we are planning ahead with plants that will do well for the coming season. This is the way to make your plantings look great all year.
When scheduling the upcoming years planting dates, we do give our loyal existing Four Season Customers first Dibs. After, those nice folks are scheduled, if there are spots available, we bend over backwards to accommodate new folks who want all Four Seasons.
We have four planting seasons
Our Program keeps your containers fresh and beautiful all year. We think of them and urge you to think of them as really nice Floral Arrangements that last for 3 months. These are not permanent plantings. We will likely replace your plants BEFORE they start looking worn out. Before they look bad. This does mean we will likely take them out and totally replant them, BEFORE you might think they are ready to be re-planted. We hope you will look forward to Rosendo's new plantings each season. We will keep your containers and flower beds fresh, full and beautiful - completely re-planted with the highest quality seasonal color, a minimum of four times each year (once every three months). We do have plants that do great in both of our harsh seasons, Winter and Summer as well as our terrific weather in Spring and Fall.
For hay racks and hanging baskets, we completely replace the potting soil and coco liners once each year. For pots and containers, we replace the potting soil once each year. In the ground we add compost, peat or potting soil each year. Often some additional potting soil might be needed at each planting. Slow release Plant food is replenished at each of the four plantings.
Spring (Mid March,April - June) Often folks have tried to force this planting to start too early, in late February or early March, with dreadful results occurring when we have those late freezes. By scheduling the spring planting at this time, you get the benefit of the spring palette of flowers without the worry of ‘is it going to freeze again and ruin things?’. They do look beautiful up until the night time temperatures get really high, often into July.
Beautiful spring flowers include but are not limited to: Snapdragons(hitting their prime bloom season in Mid March,April and May) Geraniums, African Daisies, Petunias, Wave Petunias, Marigolds, Calibrachoa, Alyssum, Lobelia , Begonias, Impatiens, Alyssum and more
Summer (July - September) This is when the night time temperatures get above 75 degrees and stay there. Fall,Winter and Spring plants just can’t handle those nighttime temps. They burn more energy than they make. At this time the Springtime plants quickly begin to look worn out. It is when those beautiful heat loving plants thrive.
Think: Zinnias, Pentas, Bougainvillea, Cosmos, disease resistant Cora Periwinkles, Impatiens, Amaranthus, Coleus, Torenia, Begonias, Marigolds, Wave Petunias, Hibiscus, Plumeria, Ginger, Mandevilla and Caladiums. Often, we also work in Florist Quality Crotons, Kalanchoes, Bromeliads, Hypoestes and Crossandras. You will look out your window and those bright colors will make the summer seem fresh, cool and pretty. Truth be told, this might be the season you need us second most.
We try to not plant these plants too early, we do not want them to develop problems before their true season here.
Fall (Late September - November) What a great time in Austin, usually Bright Warm Sunny Days and cool nights, lots of plants love those ideal conditions. The big Stars at this time of the year?
Fall Mums, Geraniums, Cyclamen, Petunias, Impatiens, Wave Petunias, Laura Bush Petunias, Million Bells, Salvias, Regular Dianthus, New Tall Dianthus, Alyssum, Lobelia, Lysmachia, Wax Begonias, Reiger Begonias, Dragon Wing Begonias, African Daisies, Gerbera Daisies, Calendulas, Pentas, Primrose, Angelonia, Nemesia, Crotons, Bromeliads, Kalanchoes and more. These make your containers beautiful into the Holidays - really looking great.
Winter (December/January - Early Early March) often this time of year is dreary and your containers would normally be weather beaten and not very Cheery. It often feels kinda like a winter-post-holiday malaise. This is the Season that might benefit you the most with fresh plantings at this time of year - it really perks things up when we really need it.
Fresh plantings of Pansies, Cyclamen, Snapdragons, Dianthus, Ornamnetal Cabbage and Ornamental Kale, Alyssum, Lobelia, Calendulas, Iceland Poppies, Swiss Chard, Dusty Miller, Ranunculus, fresh plantings of Cyclamen. This planting usually will also get your containers through the hit and miss last freeze of the season - looking terrific.
